The Hornady ELD-X is a technologically advanced, match-accurate hunting bullet engineered for all-range performance on big game. Sized to the .338 bore at 270 grains, this projectile gives handloaders a heavy, high-ballistic-coefficient option for magnum-class hunting rifles in the .338 caliber family.
The ELD-X (Extremely Low Drag - eXpanding) pairs a polymer Heat Shield tip with a secant ogive and boat-tail profile to deliver a class-leading G1 ballistic coefficient of .757. The Heat Shield tip is designed to resist tip deformation from firing heat so the meplat stays consistent shot to shot, supporting a flatter trajectory, stiffer wind-bucking behavior, and dependable down-range accuracy.
On impact, the tip initiates controlled expansion across a wide velocity window, driving a large mushroom with high retained weight and deep penetration through heavy bone and muscle. A lead core is wrapped in Hornady's AMP jacket for weight retention and reliable expansion. The bullet carries a sectional density of .338, and Hornady recommends a 1:10" twist rate for best stability.
This box contains 50 unprimed, jacketed .338 caliber 270 grain reloading bullets for the reloading bench, packaged 15 boxes per case. Whether you are working up a precision hunting load or fine-tuning a heavy-bullet recipe, the ELD-X gives handloaders a modern hunting projectile with strong terminal performance.
