The Hornady 2279 Match bullet is a precision .22 caliber (.224" diameter) projectile weighing 75 grains, designed for serious rifle competition and long-range target shooting. Its Hollow Point Boat Tail (BTHP) profile produces the flat trajectories, high ballistic coefficients, and consistent accuracy competitive reloaders expect from Hornady's Match line.
Hornady builds each Match bullet around a precision-swaged lead core encapsulated in a copper jacket manufactured using Hornady's proprietary AMP (Advanced Manufacturing Process). AMP jackets are drawn to virtually zero runout and near-zero wall-thickness variation, producing some of the most concentric bullet jackets in the industry. The secant ogive profile provides an optimum bearing surface for in-flight stability, while the boat-tail angle and length are uniquely optimized for this specific caliber and bullet weight to maximize the G1 ballistic coefficient of .395 and a sectional density of .214.
These 75 gr BTHP Match bullets are intended for handloaders assembling match-grade .22 caliber rifle ammunition and are rated for muzzle velocities between approximately 1600 and 3600 fps. They are sold as reloading components in counts of 100 per box (25 boxes per case) and are not loaded ammunition.
