The Underwood Ammo Xtreme Defense in the Platinum series is a premium 9mm Luger +P+ personal defense load built around a 90 gr solid monolithic bullet. Designed for serious self-defense use, this round combines high velocity with a purpose-built projectile engineered to deliver consistent, controlled performance through a wide range of real-world barriers.

Based on the Xtreme Penetrator product line, the Xtreme Defense bullet uses an optimized nose flute, total weight, and velocity profile to achieve penetration depth up to 18 inches with a permanent wound cavity. Unlike traditional hollow points that rely on expansion to work, the solid copper construction retains its mass and continues to penetrate after impact, giving you reliable terminal performance even when the round has to punch through clothing, sheetrock, auto glass, or other intermediate barriers before reaching the target.

This load is rated +P+ and pushes the 90 gr solid projectile at 1550 fps from the muzzle, generating 480 ft lbs of muzzle energy for a supersonic, flat-trajectory flight. The case is nickel-plated brass, providing smooth feeding, reliable extraction, and corrosion resistance that stands up to long-term storage in a defensive magazine or safe.
