The Geissele Automatics 7.62mm Suppressor Alignment Rod (also known as the SAG or SAR) is a precision gunsmithing gauge used to verify correct alignment between a sound suppressor and the bore of a .308 / 7.62mm rifle before mounting. Used in Geissele's own QC process, it lets shooters running a can on a hunting, sporting, or tactical rifle chambered in .308 Winchester / 7.62mm confirm concentricity and help prevent baffle strikes or accuracy loss caused by a misaligned muzzle device or suppressor mount.
The rod is machined from hardened steel and precision ground to 0.002 inches under nominal bore diameter, so it slips just inside the bore to expose any offset in the muzzle threads or suppressor mount. The outside diameter is finely finished straight to very tight tolerances, giving a true, repeatable indicator of bore-to-suppressor alignment. At 17 inches overall length, the rod clears most common rifle setups and provides clear visual feedback when checking fit.
To use the tool, install your suppressor or muzzle device onto the host firearm, drop the bolt if the design allows, and slide the rod through the chamber and out the muzzle. If the rod exits the suppressor bore concentrically, alignment is confirmed; if it contacts the baffles or stack, the suppressor mount or muzzle device needs adjustment. Designed and manufactured in the USA by Geissele Automatics, the SAR is built to the same standard as their triggers, rails, and mounts.
