The STG57 parts kit is a Swiss-made assault rifle that was developed in the late 1950s by the Swiss firearms manufacturer SIG (Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft). It was designed to replace the older Swiss service rifle, the K31, and served as the standard issue rifle for the Swiss Armed Forces. The STG57 is chambered for the 7.5x55mm Swiss cartridge and features a gas-operated, rotating bolt mechanism, which enhances its reliability and accuracy. One of its notable characteristics is the use of a modular design, allowing for easy maintenance and customization. The rifle's construction includes a mix of stamped and machined components, contributing to its durability. Although it was eventually succeeded by the SIG SG 550 series in the 1970s, the STG57 remains a respected firearm among collectors and enthusiasts due to its robust engineering and historical significance in Swiss military history.
