AK-47 AKM/AKMS Polish Cleaning Rod

I measured the length of the cleaning rod at 15 3/4” not the advertised length of 15 5/8”. Because of this, it is too long to fit easily into a PSAK-47 GF3. When measuring the rod length you MUST measure from the end of the threads to the top of the flat cap on the rod because the flat cap must seat fully into the notch under the barrel to keep the rod from flying out under recoil. Part of the problem may be the PSAK design. There is a rivet in the way at the threaded end of the cleaning rod. However, I saw a YouTube video showing that if you round off the threaded end of the rod, without damaging too many threads, the rounded end will “snap” over the rivet, allowing the threaded end to pass the rivet and allowing the flat cap to snap into its cup on the barrel. I’ll give it a try. Otherwise the rod is very good quality. Flexible without being permanently bent and looks like it will do the trick. Pioneer arms really should re-measure this and change the ad. The original advertisement length would have worked. I really shouldn’t have to re-design it. Otherwise, if 15 3/4” will work for you, I feel it’s a good buy.
