The Walther P1 was the West-German government's adaptation of the famous P38 pistol. The P1 was functionally the same as the P38, utilizing almost all of the same parts as the P38. The main difference between these two models was the introduction of the aluminum frame in the P1. The P38 used a sturdier, but more costly steel frame. The West German army used many wartime P38 parts to repair P1 pistols. Due to this, the year and serial stamps on many of these pistols do not match. A slide date stamp of 06/70 for example, means we only know for certain that the slide was manufactured at that time. These P1s are an excellent find for anyone who likes to collect and shoot surplus pistols. If you already have a P38, do yourself a favor and complete the set with one of these P1's today!
