Original military-issue 30-round magazine for the SIG 543/SG 540 series rifles chambered in 5.56x45mm. These staggered box magazines are built from steel construction for durability and reliable feeding.
Features a hold-open tab that engages the rifle's bolt catch after the last round is fired, locking the bolt in its rear position for fast magazine changes. Compatible with the SIG SG 540, SG 543, and Manurhin-produced variants.
Historical Background: The SIG SG 540 series magazines were designed alongside the rifle platform in the late 1960s by SIG (Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft) in Switzerland. Due to Swiss neutrality laws restricting arms exports, SIG licensed production to Manurhin of France, who manufactured rifles and magazines for military contracts worldwide. These magazines saw service with the Lebanese Armed Forces, French Marine Infantry, Portuguese military, and Chilean Armed Forces (via FAMAE). The robust steel construction and reliable feeding system contributed to the platform's reputation for dependability in harsh conditions.
