We've just received a small batch of SIG 543 folding stock carbines in 5.56x45mm. With an 11.8" barrel and 22.5" overall length with the stock folded, these are truly a collector's dream kit. The center section of the receiver has been removed per ATF specifications, but the remainder of this kit is intact, including the populated barrel. In the kits we have sorted so far, the bores are bright and shiny.
Upon inspection, the plastic grips all have a chip or crack, as do the upper and lower handguards. Therefore, we're stating that all plastic furniture will be chipped or cracked (though some may not be). Although chipped or cracked (see images), these are still functional parts and can be scanned and 3D printed. Additionally, some plastic grips have been replaced with aluminum grips (see silver grip images).
From what we've seen, the serial numbers on the bolt carrier and receiver match. On the left side of the receiver, the kits are stamped with the Lebanese Military crest with "AL" stamped to the left, indicating Army Lebanon.
Another interesting feature is the Fire Control Selector Mechanism. When rotating the selector, a dial indicates the firing mode: "S" (safe), "1" (semi-automatic), "3" (3-round burst), and "20" (fully automatic). The SIG 543 is fed from either 20 or 30-round staggered box magazines. After the last round is fired, a hold-open tab in the magazine engages the bolt catch, locking the bolt in its rear position.
One original 30-round magazine is included with each kit. These original military-issue staggered box magazines are built from steel construction for durability and reliable feeding.

Historical Background: The SIG SG 543 is the carbine variant of the SIG SG 540 series, developed by SIG (Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft) in Switzerland during the late 1960s. Development began after the unsuccessful SG 530-1 design, with SIG opting for a robust long-stroke gas piston system with rotating bolt derived from the AK-47 platform. The SG 543 features a shortened 300mm (11.8") barrel, compact gas system, folding buttstock, and four-position aperture sights for 100-400 meters. Due to Swiss export restrictions, SIG licensed production to Manurhin of France. The rifle was adopted by several nations including Lebanon, Portugal, and Chile, where FAMAE continues licensed production today. The SG 540 series served as the foundation for the SIG 550, which became the Swiss military's standard service rifle (Stgw 90).
