After running a few boxes of ammo through it, it now functions very well. I now have been through over 100 rounds with out a malfunction. It feeds my reloads better than factory rounds (I load them a little light) had a problem with my flash hider staying on but plan on lock tite the next time I clean it. It will not cycle ribbed shells. Was fun to shoot before even with the malfunctions now that its broken in it is extremely fun.
I purchased this when it was featured on a popular site, you may have read-it. *wink*
First off, the mag that comes with it is junk. Look for the mags made by ATI. They are designed much better than the included mag, and each one came with a loader that locks onto the bottom of the magazine's floor plate.
They come in varying capacities, and I swear I'm not an ati shill, they just are the best and probaly only aftermarket solution for mags and chokes for this thing off the shelf style.
When you recieve it, clean it thoroughly. There are some videos and diagrams out there that go over disassembly fairly well. When you disassemble, make sure you re-assemble with BLUE loctite on any threads, cause they'll work themselves out in a mag or three. Use BLUE and not RED please? You may have to take the thing apart again at some point.
Fitment is tight! Mated to a standard mil-spec Aero lower, h2 buffer & carbine spring. Shooting a few hundred rounds loosened it up a bit. She needs to be broken in, that's for sure.
So far I've let it get dirty and just hosed it off with clp. If the debris acts as lapping compound, it's only been helping it wear in. My problem is I am worried about a replacement charging handle and possibly a replacement upper, just for sniffs and giggs.
A word on magazines. Shoot a couple hundred rounds out of one to wear it in as well. Shot shells are measured from an un-crimped or a fired hull, so 2.5 or 2.25 is never consistent among ammo brands, and brand new mags are super tight to begin with. Think like you're breaking in a nice pair of denim Jean's before they all went to $h17. So far ati feeds the best, but they still have feeding issues due to the dimensions of any given mag-well. The mag-well puts a squeeze on the whole feeding operation and is the source of many feeding issues so far.
Winch white box is too long, no-go. Buy a box and use one as a guide for what not to buy for this platform. Low brass? No-go,ymmv. Federal and aguila have had the best brass length, hull length, and velocity to cycle reliably at the time I wrote this.
High brass, short shells work best here.
I bought this as a range/tinker toy. Odds are it's not gonna be 100% gtg outta the box, but I knew that when I bought it.
This thing is fun.
for being a blem it had minor machine marks mine came with the sights which are a magpul knock off but work fine i didnt have any problems with the bolt locking back but that can differ with the size of the buffer tube you have on your lower like if its a commercial tube or mil spec and brand but overall its a great buy for the money the mags are a magpul style and function fine
Ran a box of ATI 410 slugs No Problem.
2 1/8 long work like a champ
Shipped fast and on time. I had built a lower for it before it arrived. Function tested it unloaded and had trouble getting the bolt to lock open with empty mag. It was a simple fix. I just had to remove less than a 1/4 inch from the buffer plastic tip. If you can build a lower it's no big deal. The 410 bolt is slightly longer than a .556 bolt and lowers do differ a little between manufactures. Upper looks perfect no blems noticed. Can't wait to shoot it.
