These No. 4's are the drill variant with the corresponding markings on the stock and have welded chambers. These are incomplete and only come with what are pictured in the listing. These make for great restoration projects and are a great buy for anyone interested in firearm development or want to complete their Lee-Enfield collections!

The year is 1941, the Second World War is in it's third year, the Nazi war machine have conquered all of mainland Europe. With the recent success of the Dunkirk operation most of the British military's supplies have been captured by the Germans. You are a supply officer in the Ministry of Supply tasked with procuring as many rifles as you can via any means available to you. How do you go about this monumental task? If your answer is to simplify the design you already had and hit the big red MASS PRODUCE button then congrats; you think like a true supply officer because that's exactly what was done! The No. 4 MK 1 rifle was a product of the need for more Lee-Enfield rifles to arm the forces of the crown. This model was stronger and more simplified to streamline them for mass production. They were also issued with the No. 4 spike style bayonet. We don't call it by it's official designation though, as far as we're concerned these bayonets are PIG STICKERS as they were known by soldiers at the time.
