The HK-21 barrel shroud is a key part of the HK-21 build. It’s responsible for housing the barrel, cocking handle assembly, front sight and the trunnion. These shrouds lack the cocking handle, but have front sights, and the trunnion still built in. Damaged trunnion? Busted front sight? Drop it and dent the shroud and now your barrel won’t fit? Worry not! With these good surplus shrouds, no shroud problem is your shroud problem!
The HK21, made by H&K, and their Portuguese subcontractor FMP, was the West German evolution in firearm technology. Designed in conjunction with the MP5 and G3, the most prevalent early buyer was Portugal, who would later buy a license to manufacture the machine guns as well. Much like the G3, it fires NATO’s 7.62 x 51. The HK21s would go on to be used by Portugal until just a few years ago. It’s the bigger brother to an iconic battle rifle, reinforced and updated to serve better as an LMG.
