Description

Original French AA-52 (AAT-52) 7.62×51 NATO complete barrel assembly—pulled from service rifles and perfect for a correct rebuild or spares stash. Hard to source and getting scarcer, this is the barrel you want if you’re keeping an AA-52 running or finishing a parts build. Limited quantities—grab one while they last!

The "La Nana" Legacy

The AA52 earned the affectionate nickname "La Nana" among French troops who relied on its distinctive lever-delayed blowback action - the same unique operating system later used in the famous FAMAS rifle. This unusual mechanism, combined with feed and trigger systems derived from the proven German MG42, created a weapon that was both innovative and reliable.

Heritage & French Military Service

  • Post-War Innovation. Developed by Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Étienne (MAS) following French military experiences in the First Indochina War of the early 1950s, the AA-52 was one of the first French-produced firearms of the post-WWII era.
  • Combat Evolution. Originally chambered in 7.5x54mm French, the weapon was later adapted to 7.62x51mm NATO standard (designated AA NF-1 or AANF-1) to meet NATO requirements and improve export potential.
  • Extensive Service Record. The AA-52 saw combat across French operations in Indochina, Algeria, the Gulf War, Mali, and the Central African Republic. First delivered to French forces in April 1956, it remained in frontline service until partial withdrawal in 2008.
  • Unique Engineering. The AA-52's lever-delayed blowback operation made it peculiar among modern machine guns, requiring a fluted chamber to ease extraction - a feature shared with H&K roller-delayed weapons.
