1911 PISTOL RECOIL SPRING PLUG           

1. Function: The recoil spring plug secures the recoil spring to the recoil spring guide and helps hold the spring in place during the operation of the firearm.

2. Location: The recoil spring plug is situated at the front end of the recoil spring guide, which is located in the recoil spring tunnel under the barrel of the 1911 pistol.

3. Design: The plug is typically cylindrical or cone-shaped and may have a flange or lip that engages with the front of the barrel bushing. This design ensures proper alignment and retention during the cycling of the pistol.

4. Disassembly Tool: On traditional 1911 designs, the recoil spring plug also acts as a tool for disassembling the pistol. By compressing the recoil spring and rotating the plug, the barrel bushing can be turned and removed, allowing for field-stripping of the firearm.
