The History
The famous AK 47 Rifle was developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov after he was injured in the battle of Bryansk. In the hospital he overheard two Russian soldiers discussing the need for an improved Soviet rifle so he decided to solve the problem. AK stands for Avtomat Kalashnikova, which is Russian for Kalashnikov’s Automatic Rifle. The AK47 Rifle was designed to be simple, reliable, and easy to manufacture. The AK operating system is gas operated with a rotating bolt that fires 7.62x39mm ammunition. Reliably is one thing that sets the AK-47 apart from many other low cost rifles.
